Restoration FAQs
General Process
Redefined Restoration is your partner throughout the restoration process. From initial damage assessment to mitigation and rebuild, the team guides you step by step so you know exactly what to expect.
The process has two primary phases:
Mitigation Phase – stopping further damage and drying the structure
Rebuild Phase – repairing and restoring the property
Mitigation Phase
A Project Manager (PM) will assess the damage to your property, explain the mitigation plan, and provide a work authorization for you to review and sign before work begins.
Once work authorization is signed, the PM creates a digital scan of your property. This records its condition before mitigation and helps with documentation, estimating, and insurance purposes.
Mitigation work is scheduled for the first available appointment after authorization is signed.
Crews arrive within an agreed 2-hour arrival window to begin mitigation work.
What does mitigation work include?
Mitigation typically includes:
Setting up drying equipment
Taking a post-mitigation scan
Coordinating equipment pickup once drying is complete
Drying equipment usually runs for 72–120 hours, depending on the extent of the damage.
If contents need to be handled, a pack-out is scheduled before mitigation begins to protect your belongings.
If asbestos is detected during mitigation, additional steps will be added to the process to ensure safety and compliance.
Once the mitigation invoice is paid in full, the mitigation phase is officially complete.
After Mitigation
Within 3–5 business days after equipment pickup, you can expect:
Final mitigation invoice (actual work completed)
Rebuild estimate
Photo documentation of your project
Who follows up with me after mitigation?
After the rebuild estimate is sent, a Construction Coordinator will follow up weekly until you are ready to move forward.
Rebuild Phase
To begin rebuild work, Redefined Restoration requires:
A signed rebuild estimate
A 50% deposit or the initial insurance payment (ACV)
Once paperwork and payment are received, rebuild work usually begins within 5–10 business days.
Your Project Manager and Construction Coordinator will be your main points of contact for timelines, updates, and questions during the rebuild.
If contents were packed out, their return will be scheduled once rebuild work is complete.
After all rebuild work is finished, Redefined Restoration will send you the final invoice for payment.
